Goal
Help Deliver Urgent Medical Aid and Humanitarian Assistance to Earthquake-Affected Communities in the Philippines
A powerful 7.8-magnitude earthquake struck Southern Mindanao, Philippines, causing widespread damage across South Cotabato, Sarangani Province, General Santos City, and neighboring communities. Homes, healthcare facilities, schools, and critical infrastructure have been damaged, while thousands of families continue to face ongoing aftershocks, displacement, and disruption of essential services.
HAND-Philippines, together with the South Cotabato Medical Society and local humanitarian responders, is mobilizing urgently needed medical supplies, equipment, and relief assistance for communities affected by this disaster.
About HAND-Philippines' Post-Calamity Humanitarian Aid Program
This earthquake response is part of HAND-Philippines' Post-Calamity Humanitarian Aid Program, which provides rapid humanitarian assistance and medical support to communities affected by natural disasters throughout the Philippines.
Following catastrophic events such as earthquakes, typhoons, floods, and other emergencies, HAND-Philippines promptly mobilizes local staff, volunteers, medical professionals, and resources to deliver critical aid where it is needed most. Working closely with local government units, healthcare providers, community organizations, and humanitarian partners, we coordinate relief efforts to ensure scarce resources are deployed efficiently and reach the most vulnerable populations.
Through this program, HAND-Philippines helps provide emergency medical care, medical supplies, humanitarian relief, and recovery support to families and communities facing the immediate and long-term impacts of disasters.
The Current Need
The recent earthquake has left many communities struggling with damaged homes, disrupted services, and limited access to healthcare. Local healthcare providers and humanitarian responders are working tirelessly to address urgent medical needs while supporting ongoing recovery efforts.
The Province of South Cotabato, the Municipality of Glan in Sarangani Province, and General Santos City were among the areas significantly impacted. Many families remain vulnerable as communities work to recover from the destruction and ongoing aftershocks.
