Goal

Relatives,

As we approach this winter season, we want to remind everyone that traditionally this is a time to prepare our Peoples. This is the time when resources were most scarce and when settlers thought we were at our most vulnerable. But this is also the season when we band together, share our bounties, tell our stories, and remind ourselves that the only way to survive this harsh environment is together. All of these teachings still apply today. With the rise of fascism and authoritarianism, with escalating attacks by tech giants encroaching on our lands, with climate catastrophes ravaging our relatives across the world, we are facing a long winter to come. And we must prepare together.

If you have been following our work this year, you know that the biggest modern threat to our lands, water, air, and all our relatives is the Death Cycle of AI. Generative AI is responsible for cognitive declines across entire populations, completely voids consent from artists and users, and has led to a dramatic increase in violence and emotional traumas. However, the harms of this software extend far beyond the digital realm. Generative AI relies on a massive phsyical infrastructure that consumes community and global resources at unsurvivable rates.  Hyperscale data centers, the backbone of generative AI, are city-block-sized warehouses that use water and electricity that could power a town. This electrical demand then shifts the bill to the local taxpayers and often requires municipalities to resort to nuclear installations, further poisoning the local community and future generations. All of which relies on further critical mineral mining on Indigenous and rural lands who are considered to be an acceptable sacrifice for the sake of "progress". Not to mention this entire infrastructure further consolidates military power and severe privacy-breaching surveillance into the hands of a few technocrats.

Honor the Earth has been dedicated and preparing for this fight for over a year, but we are relying on supporters like you to make it through the harshest winter of our lives. Our People have always cared for one another, and we are asking you to join us in that tradition this season.
