Dear friends, volunteers, and supporters,

    We know what it’s like to stand in the ashes — to stare at the spot where your home once stood and wonder what happens next. I (Pastor Chelsea) was just a little girl when our house burned down. I remember standing in shock, watching the smoke rise, realizing everything was gone. I had nothing — until a neighbor came over and handed me a doll. That simple act of kindness changed everything for me.

 Today, as pastors leading Heartland Hope Mission, we see that same heartbreak in the eyes of families recovering from the tornadoes that hit our community last year — families like Tracy’s.

“We lost everything,” she said. “Our home. Our cars. My cleaning business. Everything was gone. But Heartland Hope Mission showed up when we didn’t know what to do next.”

 Tracy’s son and their dog barely survived the storm, taking shelter in a basement no one knew he had reached. Her home was ripped off the foundation, her cars thrown half a mile into a field, her cleaning supplies — her entire business — destroyed. When others didn’t know how to help, you did. Because of generous supporters like you, we were able to help Tracy and her family with:

• Emergency gift cards
• Locating an RV to live in through the winter
• Warm clothes, food, and housewares
• Power restoration when their utilities were gone
• Emotional support and disaster case management — for over a year

“Grace, our case manager, has been with us every step of the way,” Tracey shared. “She calls. She checks in. She helps when I’m stuck. I didn’t know how we’d survive, but we’re okay now — because of Heartland Hope.”
