Hope in South Africa

Greetings Friends of Hope in South Africa,

This year marks our 15th anniversary of celebrating Hope in South Africa's work at Sundowners. Unfortunately, due to the unique challenges and restrictions of Covid 19, we are not able to gather in person.

When I first traveled to Richmond South Africa, I was overwhelmed by the area’s poverty and the many needs of the Richmond community. What gave me hope during this time were the happy, smiling faces of the children whom I encountered and showered me with love. Those happy faces of love impacted us all as we carried out our vision to provide nutrition in a healthy, safe and engaging environment in the Richmond area.

This year, we are especially challenged to provide healthy meals and activities due to strict South African government pandemic regulations. These regulations have tremendously increased the cost of the soup kitchen as well as instituted expensive sanitation measures. In response to these barriers and in celebration of our 15th year, we are inaugurating a five -year donor pledge campaign.

There is always hope in difficult and overwhelming times. Each of us can contribute to that hope in South Africa by contributing to feeding the children and honoring those happy faces. Although I will not be able to see you at Sundowners, I will raise a glass to each of you for your ongoing generosity and for joining us in our campaign to:

FEED THE CHILDREN AND HELP ELIMINATE POVERTY.

Blessings, Peace and Hope to you and your families!
