HOPE in Action: Curing NF2

Led by high schooler Meilee, from Newton North High School, the HOPE in Action Club is a student-founded initiative dedicated to raising awareness and funding for NF2 research through creativity, community, and compassion.

This youth-driven project is built on the simple idea that giving can be personal, meaningful, and creative. Mei designed the club’s website, collected donated gifts (including her own original artwork), and photographed each one to create a unique “Thank You Gift” gallery. Donors can browse available gifts on the website hopeinactioncuringnf2.com, make a direct donation to NF2 BioSolutions, and then select a gift they’d like to receive as a personal Thank-You for their support.

How It Works:

1. Donate directly using this page.

2. Forward your donation confirmation email/receipt to HOPEinaction.cure@gmail.com

3. Choose your Thank-You Gift by referencing the gift ID number shown on the website (hopeinactioncuringnf2.com).

4. Your gift will be mailed to you at no additional cost — shipping is covered by additional

club fundraising.

The HOPE in Action Club is currently building a network of youth supporters, with more students contributing handmade or donated Thank-You Gifts for future fundraising rounds. Club members can be featured on the site and help spread awareness through art, writing, or social media.

"I hope this project will not only raise funds, but also foster empathy, spark curiosity, and bring young people into the conversation around rare diseases like NF2” - Meilee Mekalanos
