My Story: One Desk at a Time

Tabeetha School is unlike anywhere else in Israel.

For over 160 years, this Christian school in Jaffa has welcomed students from all backgrounds, Christian, Jewish, Muslim and beyond, to learn side by side in a spirit of peace, dignity and academic excellence. It is more than a school. It is a working model of coexistence and a place where hope lives in every classroom.

As a former teacher at Tabeetha, and now its fundraiser, I’ve seen first-hand the impact this community has. It shaped me deeply and continues to shape the lives of students every day. It’s where children grow into thoughtful, kind and curious young people. This is not just through learning, but through being part of something bigger than themselves.

Right now, I’m inviting you to help us prepare every classroom for the 2025–2026 school year. That means books. Writing tools. Whiteboards. Maths resources. All the essentials that make learning possible from day one.

Your support helps equip all 13 classrooms with what they need to be ready, not just physically, but as spaces of inspiration, belonging and opportunity.

How You Can Help

  • £10 = 82 pencils or 7 writing books

  • £100 = 68 writing books or 32 personal whiteboards

  • £250 = Whiteboard markers for all teachers or a class set of textbooks

  • £400 = All maths writing books in the school

  • £1,500 = Fully equips one classroom for a full academic year

All donations are recognised. Larger gifts receive naming opportunities for the 2025–2026 school year.

Even a small gift brings us closer to our goal. Together, we can place hope at every desk.

Tabeetha School operates under the oversight of the Church of Scotland and is a registered amuta (charity) in Israel, number 580500601. All donations will be used exclusively to support the educational mission of the school and are subject to the school's financial oversight procedures. Where possible, we will honour donor preferences regarding use and recognition. If a specific need becomes fully funded, surplus funds will be directed towards similar priorities in line with our campaign goals. If you have any questions about your donation or how it will be used, please contact Kate Freedman at kfreedman@churchofscotland.org.uk.
