Goal

In partnership with our co-developer Preservation of Affordable Housing (POAH), 3i HoME is designing a fully-accessible affordable residential building in Scarborough, Maine. Our building will be located in the vibrant Town Center at The Downs. Our community of affordable rental apartments will be home to 51 households in which at least one member is disabled. In addition to the private rental apartments, the project will feature a common living area for social activities, a designated work space for service providers and a mobility and assistive technology hub.

"It’s all about giving people with disabilities the opportunity to live with dignity and independence, just as we all want and deserve," stated Paul Linet, Founder and President of 3i Housing of Maine.

For more than 3 years, 3i HoME has been advancing our vision of creating a totally accessible building in a thriving area where ALL people can live, work and socialize. While there are a number of milestones still to achieve, we expect to break ground in 2024 on a 4 story, totally accessible apartment building to be located in the Town Center currently under construction at The Downs in Scarborough.

In order for us to secure the requisite assistive technology for Maine's first 3i HoME Residence → This is where we could use your support!

Our work is really starting to pick up! As we look to 2024, we have a number of BIG milestones for our project at The Downs, in Scarborough, including;

  • Grounding breaking on our construction

  • Major policy efforts to support disability rights and resources

  • Acquiring funding to support the services and community that will happen within our project’s space

  • Building outreach and community efforts

To accomplish this we are looking to $15,000 this holiday season. As you are checking people off of your holiday checklist, don’t forget 3i Housing of Maine and your friends, family, and colleagues are living with a disability.
