We are raising funds and awareness for Heroic Path to Light, a veteran non-profit organization that provides critical care to veterans and first responders suffering from PTSD and trauma-related mental health issues.
Our initial goal is to raise $10,000 during our two-week hike on the Appalachian Trail to support Heroic Path to Light in providing the care that our veterans and first responders need and deserve. We know that it costs approximately $3,000 in donations to Heroic Path to Light per veteran/first responder to provide critical care. That's why every dollar counts towards helping our heroes and their families get the help they need.
It's a sobering fact that 41% of the approximate 20 million veterans in the US report mental health issues, and the suicide rate for veterans is an unacceptable epidemic. In fact, the true number of veterans dying by suicide is about 44 per day. This is unacceptable, and we need to take action to provide the critical care that these brave men and women deserve.
