Many people have been captivated by the story of Magnolia, the sweet kitten who was stolen from a pet store for use as a decoy in an attempted bank robbery. It was a terrifying situation that could have ended badly, and we are so glad she is safe and has been adopted into a loving forever home. We’re hoping that she can become a poster child for the need to foster and adopt rescue kittens and cats and give them loving forever homes. Beltsville Community Cats (BCC) receives many calls from local residents asking us to take in kittens born in back yards, behind apartment building dumpsters, and in industrial areas. Left outside, most of them wouldn’t survive. We also find abandoned cats who clearly want to find their way back to a safe indoor home like they once had. Some are sick, some are injured, some are traumatized. All need and deserve love and care.

BCC is a network of volunteers who collectively do our best to help these cats. Those that are adoptable are placed in foster homes, to the extent that we have space available. Feral cats that don’t want to be “rescued” are neutered and vaccinated and returned to their outdoor homes. We also support community cat colonies in Beltsville by providing daily food and water, winter habitats, and other kinds of care.
