Help us to support the local community during Covid19 pandemic
The Covid-19 pandemic has been severely effecting Papua Explorers and Coralia with the rest of the world, and it looks like this is going to go on for a while as more and more countries are closing down their borders and ordering a lock-down for their citizens. The Indonesian government has suspended the tourist visas for at least one month and Sorong may be having a temporary lock-down soon. Unfortunately, these circumstances force us to temporarily cease our operations until people can start travelling again.
Our first priority is the safety and wellbeing of our team and the local communities of Raja Ampat. Livelihood of hundreds of families depend on tourism industry and we anticipate that many households will be left without an income for months. Your support is needed more than ever now.
Indigenous communities are most vulnerable populations to such outbreaks and this is when they most need our support. Our medical supplies and boats are their only way to get medical care and unfortunately, our capacity is not enough without your support.
With your help, we will be able to take the sick to the doctor and bring in preventive measures as well as medicine. We will focus on educational activities with adults about the Coronavirus and how to protect themselves and avoid spread of viruses as well as other infections. We will set up hand sanitising stations and distribute face masks. Our food and fuel support to the local villages will continue.
We ceased the activities with children in an effort to protect them, however our monitoring and reef restoration activities will continue. We will also keep working on the Papuan Dive Guide School as well as the English classes with our teams.
We are grateful for every donation to support the livelihood of Raja Ampat locals, many of which welcomed you with huge smiles and took care of everyone wholeheartedly.
