Goal
With meteorologists around the world confirming the formation of a severe El Niño weather event and global temperature records soaring, we need to start preparing NOW.
This dreaded weather pattern brings relentless heatwaves and severe drought to South Africa. Meteorologists fear we may be facing the worst El Niño in decades—potentially worse than the devastating drought of 2015/2016.
During that 2015 drought, we spent sleepless nights searching fruitlessly for grass bales to feed the rhino orphans as natural grazing deteriorated into a desert landscape.
Now, in the middle of winter, our veld is already dry, dusty, and deteriorating. Good grazing is becoming scarce, and surface water is slowly disappearing. Temperatures are climbing far too soon—our winter has been unusually warm, and trees are already flowering two months early.
With so many hungry mouths to feed, including nursing moms with small calves at foot, we are deeply worried.
How You Can Help
We must act now to secure a stockpile of 5,000 feed bales to carry us through the tough months ahead. Our supplier is ready, but we need to cover the costs—and the remaining balance is daunting.
Please support our Dry Food Drive. No donation is too small, and every single cent makes a direct impact.
Thank you for standing with us and helping protect our rhinos
