Hunger Relief

Help feed families in rural India (south Rajasthan).

The coronavirus pandemic and national lockdown have made circumstances even more difficult for families who live in poverty. More people are out of work and cannot afford food.

A package containing 10lbs of flour, 2lbs of rice, 1lb of lentils and 1qt of vegetable oil helps to feed a family of 4 for 1 week. Since April, Hunger Relief has helped more than 200 families every week with over 1800 food packages in just one small town. The need for a consistent source of affordable, nutritious food in the area is much greater.

A little goes a long way!

$4 = 1 food package for a family in need

$16 = Feed a family for a month

$208 = Feed a family for a year

Hunger Relief is a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) organization.  All donations are tax deductible.

Why people are hungry

  • Rajasthan is a desert and has food shortages
    • Rajasthan has a dry climate and unpredictable rainfall. Some years the harvest is good, and some years it is not, leaving Rajasthan’s inhabitants struggling to find food. As deforestation continues, and the desert expands, people are left even more insecure.
  • COVID exacerbates already difficult circumstances
    • Coronavirus pandemic/lockdown increased unemployment and food insecurity
    • COVID-19 has further stretched people’s resources and left many even more vulnerable.
