In 2021 Moms at Work released a report about women's experiences on maternity leave.
33% were discriminated against due to becoming or being a mother
40% considered quitting during their return to work
Only 10% were provided information about breastfeeding and options
From that report we created My Parental Leave - a program and supports to teach parents their rights and to support small and mid sized employers to make this transition better.
In order for this to work and support everyone (and not just certain people or companies) we need to make this information free.
All mothers deserve access to advice and support from experts.
All companies should be offered the opportunity to fix this process and learn.
We can change this process.
We can make this better.
But to do that we need to help make it better for EVERYONE.
New parents don't need to know how to share chores, talk about balance or be taught mindfulness. They need to know their rights.
Are we arming people with information?
Yes we are.
Are we teaching people to ask for what they are entitled to?
Yes we are.
