Why KINEO? What is KINEO?
In 2015, Tonya noticed a tremor in Dan's hands while on vacation, initially believing it was low-blood sugar... the tremors never went away. After meeting with a physician, neurologist, and a therapist, Dan was diagnosed with Active Tremors attributed to CTSD (Cumulative Traumatic Stress Disorder). What became clear was that years of ministry (expectations, conflict, abandonment, betrayal, loss, scapegoating, etc) had taken a toll on his body. Additionally, an EKG had also shown heart damage from the stress disorder. Dan's body had been keeping the score all along.
This began a journey of seeking help and healing. As they processed their pain, Dan & Tonya discovered how few accessible and economical resources were available that understood their unique wounds and weariness accumulated from ministry leadership. From this discovery, a seedling sprouted!
Dan and Tonya began to assemble a team of Guides, Therapists, Shepherds and Seasoned Pastors for the purpose of 
addressing this hidden epidemic. KINEO was born.
Dan and Tonya have coached over 500 Pastors and Planters through their local work and in the V3 Movement. What is evident in every story heard: ministry leaders are tired, some are traumatized, and many are unsure how to find a genuine way forward.
The stats reveal the stories we see in the headlines:
- 75% of pastors report being “extremely" stressed.
- 70% say they have a lower self-esteem because of ministry.
- 80% believe their ministry has negatively affected their families.
- 58% of say they've considered quitting in the last month.
With the help of these funds KINEO (501c3) will purchase a designated and intentionally designed retreat grounds in Puerto Rico for the renewal, recovery, and recalibration of ministry leaders. This location will be the hub for ongoing 25-week cohorts where leaders journey together to unpack their exhaustion, isolation, and emotional injuries. It will also be a curated space with an available marriage counselor, enneagram coach, and clinical therapist. Not only for individuals, it is conducive for teams to spend a week together in theological training and soul development.
This is the staging point for turning the tide against burnout, compassion fatigue, depression, and moral collapse. If you've been impacted by the toll ministry takes please help us craft a space for renewal of the soul, mind, and body. Help the Good News be Good News for ministry leaders.
