Providing Affirming, Inclusive, and Accessible Mental Healthcare for Queer & Trans Mainers

Affirming Behavioral Health (ABH), a start-up, trans-led non-profit outpatient clinic based in Hampden, officially launched operations in June 2026 to provide affirming, trauma-informed mental healthcare to LGBTQ+ Mainers. While our clinical team will begin seeing clients on a small scale in July, our ability to grow and meet the immense statewide need—especially among underserved youth, rural communities, and older adults—depends entirely on financial support. Launching amidst a hostile political climate and shifting healthcare funding means our life-saving work is more urgent than ever. To bridge critical funding gaps, sustain and expand our clinical staff, and build an essential reserve fund so we can eventually serve underinsured individuals regardless of their ability to pay, we urgently need flexible, unrestricted funding.
