Help Light the Park!
The Lamplighter’s Committee was formed in 2005 from community grassroots.
From the beginning, this project was seen by the Committee as a “Thank You” to the community for its investment in St. Andrews. It is also a way to spotlight St. Andrews and be a holiday destination to bring people to our community to spend time here and visit the area businesses and other local attractions.
As the years progressed so did some of the Lamplighter’s responsibilities. It became the committee’s responsibility to sponsor the Christmas Tree Lighting and Santa in the Park.
In 2020, the St. Andrews Community Redevelopment Agency funded the addition of tree and foliage lights throughout the park. The committee hired Gulf Coast Christmas, and the professionals put drip lights in the Sentry Oak and string lights in the other large oak trees and many of the palms and crepe myrtles, as well as on the pergola at the Lion’s fountain. These extra lights made the park a spectacular attraction. Unfortunately, these funds are no longer available for this purpose.
This year, Florida Power and Light has generously donated $5000 to help light the park, but this will not cover all the lights. Destination Panama City has also contributed to the lighting fund, however, another $2500 remains to be paid.
We are reaching out to all our friends to “Help Light the Park”. If you can donate any amount, every little bit helps!
