Goal
Meet Kova.
Kova has been part of the Living Free Animal Sanctuary family since 2016. When he first arrived, he was deeply fearful of people, especially men, and unsure how to exist safely in the world. Over time, with patience, consistency, and daily enrichment, Kova slowly learned to trust. Today, he’s an active, joyful senior dog who still lives for a good game of fetch - and will happily befriend anyone willing to throw the ball.
Recently, Kova was diagnosed with a torn ACL (cranial cruciate ligament). While there was no single incident that caused the injury, veterinary evaluation suggests it is the result of years of normal wear and tear on an active dog’s joints. Without surgical repair, Kova would face chronic pain, limited mobility, and progressive arthritis.
Kova requires a specialized orthopedic procedure called TPLO surgery, which stabilizes the knee joint, relieves pain, and allows dogs to return to comfortable movement. With surgery and proper recovery, Kova’s prognosis is good.
At Living Free, we are committed to providing lifelong care to animals who depend on us - including senior dogs and those who may remain with us long-term. We do not euthanize for treatable conditions, and we believe age should never determine whether an animal receives necessary medical care.
This fundraising campaign will help support the cost of Kova’s surgery and recovery, alongside grants and organizational funds. If you’d like to be part of Kova’s care, we are grateful for your support, your shares, and your kindness.
Thank you for helping us ensure that dogs like Kova can continue to live comfortable, enriched lives.
