Help Us Give Bjorn the Future He Deserves

At the beginning of this year, we took in an injured stray piglet we named Bjorn. We searched tirelessly for his family, posting everywhere and hoping someone would come forward. No one ever did.

At first, we believed Bjorn had been attacked by dogs. But as the months passed and his condition worsened, specialists uncovered the heartbreaking truth: Bjorn was born with a severe congenital defect that caused chronic colon obstructions, repeated medical crises, and immense pain.

Over the last six months, Bjorn has undergone three major surgeries, been neutered, and required three separate hospitalizations. This past Friday, he underwent what we hope will be his final surgery—a groundbreaking procedure that, to our knowledge, has never before been successfully performed on a pig.

While the surgery corrected the defect that had plagued him since birth, it also changed the course of his future.

Because of his complex medical needs, Bjorn can no longer go to the adoptive home we had lined up for him. He now requires a specialized liquid diet, cannot have access to grass, and is permanently fecally incontinent as a result of the lifesaving surgery that finally gave him a chance at a comfortable life. He will need extra care for the rest of his life, and we are fully committed to providing it.

Today, Bjorn is recovering in the ICU and doing well, but he must remain hospitalized for another 10–14 days while his veterinary team closely monitors his recovery. His medical boarding costs are approximately $150 per day.

When we first rescued a stray piglet, we never imagined his care would approach $10,000. Yet every step of this journey has been necessary to save his life.

Adding to the challenge, Bjorn's most recent surgery resulted in a $2,100 increase to his estimate, and we are also carrying a past-due veterinary balance of $745. These unexpected expenses have created an urgent need for support as we work to keep his treatment and recovery on track.

We're asking for your help to cover Bjorn's hospitalization and medical expenses. If just 14 people donated $150, his remaining ICU stay would be fully covered. But truly, every gift matters. Whether it's $5, $25, $50, or more, each donation helps ensure Bjorn receives the care he needs to heal and thrive.

Bjorn didn't ask to be born with this condition. He didn't choose the difficult road he's traveled. But together, we can make sure his story ends not in suffering, but in comfort, compassion, and hope.

Thank you for being part of Bjorn's journey.
