Heights of Hope: Faraz's Kilimanjaro Trek

A Sponsored Challenge in Support of As-Salaam Foundation

During summer 2026, myself, Faraz will take on my greatest challenge yet — a 10-day ascent to the peak of Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s tallest mountain, standing proudly at 5,895 metres (19,341 feet) above sea level.

This isn't just a climb; it's a deeply personal journey, a testament to the human spirit's ability to overcome. Every step I take up this magnificent mountain will be fuelled by the faces of those I'm honouring, those who've shown immense courage in their own battles. I'm conquering Kilimanjaro for charity because I believe in a world where hope triumphs over adversity, where compassion creates miracles, and where every person has the chance to live a life free from suffering. This mountain, in its majestic challenge, mirrors the struggles many face daily, and by reaching its summit, I hope to shine a light on their resilience and raise vital funds to support the incredible work of As-Salaam Foundation and SYP. This isn't just about reaching a peak; it's about lifting others up, one determined stride at a time.

My past mountain treks, each presenting their own unique challenges and triumphs, have forged within me an unshakeable determination. From navigating the steep inclines of The National 3 Peaks, the undulating Yorkshire 3 peaks and enduring the unpredictable weather and altitude of Mount Toubkal in Morocco (4,167m), these experiences have been invaluable training grounds. They've taught me resilience in the face of physical exertion, the importance of meticulous preparation, and the profound mental fortitude required to push beyond perceived limits.

Now, with Kilimanjaro, I face what many consider the hardest of them all – not for its technical climbing, but for its sheer altitude and the demanding summit night. Yet, it is precisely because of those previous treks that I feel ready. The grit cultivated on those trails, the lessons learned in pushing through discomfort, and the unwavering belief in my own capabilities will be the driving force carrying me to the Uhuru Peak.

Every step, breath, and ounce of strength will be pushed to its limit on this journey. And every hope will be poured into this one cause: bringing relief and dignity to those who need it most around the world.

Why is Faraz Climbing?

I am trekking to raise funds for As-Salaam Humanitarian Foundation and Saalik Youth Project, specifically to support families across the world who have faced challenges and adversities including war, trauma, and loss, those who live in harsh, unstable conditions with limited access to food, clean water, education, and healthcare.

Your support will directly help us provide the following across the globe in various countries such as Palestine, Yemen, Pakistan, Nepal and more:

  • Emergency food parcels
  • Clean drinking water
  • Hygiene kits and essential supplies
  • Shelter assistance
  • Sanitation projects
  • Healthcare projects
  • Education and worship facilities
  • Empowering communities through vegetable gardens and livestock

What Does It Take?

Reaching Kilimanjaro’s summit is a demanding 10-day expedition:

  • Hiking through five climate zones, from lush rainforest to arctic landscapes
  • Facing extreme altitude, freezing temperatures, and physical exhaustion
  • Walking for 6-8 hours a day, carrying only essentials, driven by purpose

This trek is more than a personal milestone — it's a mission to uplift those forced to live without the basics.

Every donation brings us closer to the summit — and closer to giving hope and ease to those who need it most.
