Goal

This is Anastasia. She's a young woman who is often homeless. She was in an apartment as of yesterday. And then the landlord threw her out. So I took her in. This is a Buddy Heater she is using in her tent. I will be going to fill up propane tanks today for people who don't have electricity.

We are in the middle of a severe, emergency cold system. Many schools in Northeast Ohio closed today because it is too cold for kids to walk to school. The low today is 1. Tomorrow it is 5. Saturday is 3 and will finally warm up to 12 on Sunday.
I spent all yesterday working on this issue.
The big thing I did was run electricity from our tiny house to the other side of the Garden where several new tents have been put up. This is an electric line on its own breaker.
I've posted a picture of it below. It is not finished. It needs to be buried in the ground. But I can't dig a 70-foot trench 18 inches deep in this weather. But the person whose tent it is in says that they were sitting in their tent in short sleeves because it was 54 degrees in his tent. While this work is not done, it is safer than an extension cord. And it is also on its own breaker which is important because we are constantly dealing with tripped breakers.

This work cost about $400 between the wire and all the conduit. I will also be going out today and buying propane for people that need it in our camp.

We also are currently running our warming center 24 hours a day. (our electric bill was $460 last month.)
Here's a picture of the room at 3:20am last night. All volunteering and security is run by the people who use the center. That's always the way we have operated. I love it because it instantly gives people purpose who often feel like they are nothing more than a drain on society.

If you could spare some money for this life-saving work I would greatly appreciate it. You are the ONLY reason this work is possible. I would be nothing without you.
I am eternally in your debt. Sage
