Heart of a Lion - 3V3 Basketball Tournament

I will be hosting the Heart of a Lion 3 v 3 basketball tournament on July 31, 2022 at JC McKenna Middle School, Evansville WI in honor of my Uncle Mike. My Uncle Mike had a heart transplant in 1994 due to being born with a heart defect called transposition of the great vessel. He had numerous surgeries starting the day after he was born and his first open heart surgery at age 6. Other open-heart surgeries followed at ages 12 and 19 and he had a pacemaker at age 20. My Uncle Mike was one of the strongest men I have ever known. He was married to my Aunt Vicky and I have two awesome cousins Abbie and Kailey. Uncle Mike received his new heart from a young girl who was taken at age 16 by a drunk driver. He lived 13 years with his new heart and unfortunately died at age 37 on August 14th, 2007.  Uncle Mike loved candy, the hotter or sour the better. He was a fun-loving Uncle who never took life for granted. 

My Uncle Mike was known as the “Man with the heart of a Lion” for everything he endured which is why I am honoring him at my tournament.

My goal is to raise $5,000 or more for the American Heart Association so I can help others in need of a transplant.
