Please Help Support the Heart Beat Documentary + Discover the Healing Power of Music.

Michael Boidy is the Director of Heart Beat.

Michael’s life took a dramatic turn after surviving a helicopter crash that left him with a broken back, memory loss, and deep depression. Despite undergoing surgery and physical therapy, his recovery eventually plateaued.

Everything shifted during a transformative week-long art and music gathering in nature. It was there that Michael experienced firsthand the profound healing power of sound - when combined with community and the natural world. That moment sparked a rebirth. His journey led him to the TEDx Stage, where he shared the life-changing discoveries that helped rebuild from the inside out. What began as a personal path to healing became a decade-long mission to document a deeper truth: music is medicine - especially when experienced together, outdoors and with intention.

We excitedly invite you to join us in creating the Heart Beat Documentary, as we explore the incredible healing potential of music and sound therapy. This documentary will showcase the science and real-life impact of music on patients in both critical care and those seeking relief from day-to-day ailments.

To realize this dream, we’re launching the next phase of our fundraising with a goal of $100,000—part of our overall budget of $700,000.

With your help, we can capture this essential portion of the film and continue toward our ultimate vision.

A Glimpse into the Healing Power of Music

Let us share another story exemplifying the extraordinary healing power of music—one that inspired an episode of our documentary. Andrew Schulman, a classically trained guitarist, found himself in the fight for his life after suffering a traumatic medical event. As he lay in the ICU, his vitals deteriorating, his wife had a brilliant, simple idea that would change their lives forever: she played his favorite Bach piece for him. Miraculously, his condition began to stabilize soon thereafter. Inspired by this experience, Andrew went on to become a medical musician, playing live classical music for critical patients in ICU. His work using music as another healing modality has transformed patient outcomes: lowering heart rates, reducing anxiety, and even improving recovery times. Andrew's unbelievable story is one of many to be featured in the Heart Beat Documentary, demonstrating that music is not simply a form of art—it’s a form of medicine.

Why This Matters Now

Science has finally caught up! Empirical research now validates what our ancestors understood long ago – sound, nature, and community heal deeply on fundamental levels. With our world-class partners, we're working tirelessly to bring this healing revolution to the masses.

Thanks to groundbreaking work from Johns Hopkins Center for Music & Medicine, Energy4Life clinic, Nordoff Robbins Music Therapy Center, and Georgetown University we now have unprecedented access to research that validates the therapeutic power of sound! Results proved favorable for conditions ranging from PTSD, Parkinson's, Alzheimer's, Dementia, and even cancer.

The stories we're capturing are nothing short of remarkable—people finding healing through sound and music when traditional medical approaches offered little hope. These stories deserve to be told and uplifted , not only as human interest pieces but as documented evidence of success in an emerging medical frontier.

In recent years, we have documented several patients as they navigated transformative sound healing journeys occurring in their homes and in pioneering clinics, while otherwise documenting the science behind how frequency and vibration affect our bodies on cellular levels.

Today, with a dynamic team by my side and support for this bold vision, Heart Beat is ready to showcase the truth that science has finally caught up to: the undeniable connection between sound and healing.

Where We Stand Today

With major support from Emmy-winning and Oscar-nominated production companies, AARP, and leading medical institutions, we're making significant progress toward:

  • Completing filming for several powerful personal stories
  • Documenting cutting-edge sound therapy approaches
  • Securing access to leading scientists and medical professionals
  • Creating a foundation for a series that could transform how we think about healing

To complete this phase of the vision, we need to raise at least $100,000 of our $700,000 total budget. These funds will allow us to film several key segments, edit major scenes, advance through various post-production stages, and incorporate high-end VFX elements needed to visualize sound and its effects on the human body.

We are collaborating with some of the world's leading clinics, researchers, and sound therapy pioneers—capturing powerful stories and the latest innovations in sound healing.

With your support and contributions, we will be able to:

  • Film in key locations (New York City, Baltimore & Utah)
  • Secure equipment, flights, travel expenses, and crew accommodations
  • Film transformative patient healing journeys
  • Film coverage of a medical musician using music to save lives
  • Showcase cutting-edge sound therapy technologies
  • Develop educational resources for healthcare professionals worldwide
  • Create scientific visualizations of sound's neurological effects
  • Create scientific visualizations of sound healing
  • Finance the creation and completion of 1-3 solid episodes
  • Design & edit a captivating opening piece
  • Make a profound difference in the health and well-being of people of all ages

Our Promise to You

We promise that your support will help create something authentic, scientifically sound, and deeply human. "Heart Beat" will not only document sound's healing power, but will itself become an instrument of awareness and change. This documentary isn't just about my story – it’s about sharing the message of healing so that everyone seeking relief beyond conventional methods knows how to access this powerful resource.
