Goal
Help Us Add 20 No-Cost Summer Camp Seats for Families from the CDC, HHS, and Beyond!
The Need
In recent days, a wave of federal layoffs has deeply impacted families across Atlanta—particularly those working in vital public health agencies like the CDC. Parents are facing sudden job loss, a daunting job search, and major uncertainty. Their children, in turn, face a summer without safe, enriching programming.
We believe kids deserve more.
Our Response
East Atlanta Kids Club is launching an urgent campaign to raise $30,000 to fund 20 additional no-cost seats at Camp Full S.T.E.A.M., our 6-week summer camp focused on science, technology, engineering, arts, and math, daily play, and positive sports-based youth development programming.
These new spots will be reserved for children of recently laid-off federal employees, offering relief to working parents and joy-filled, structured programming to their kids.
Why It Matters
As a fellow parent, I see this need through two clear lenses:
Children deserve joyful, intentional experiences—no matter what challenges adults face.
Parents need safe, consistent care while they search for work or transition into new roles.
This is about dignity, support, and community.
The Breakdown
Your donation directly supports a child’s full summer experience:
$50 = One day of camp
$250 = One week of camp
$1,500 = A full 6-week summer for one child
We’re calling on our community—individual donors like you—to help raise the $30,000 needed to make this happen. Every gift matters.

Happy to donate my (Kemp) state tax "refund". Hope others do the same, if they are able.
