WHY GIVE TO GANESHSPACE

GaneshSpace has an urgent need to raise $25,000 by the end of 2022. As the COVID-19 pandemic continues to impact our society and economy, marginalized populations--such as ours at GaneshSpace and the various communities we serve--are impacted the most. $25,000 ensure we can continue to:

- Center and uplift voices of the Black and queer communities through our Compassionate Conversation series

- Award scholarships to BIPOC, queer, and trans folks interested in participating in our Mindful Changemakers social justice training

- Grow our operational costs to ensure the effectiveness of our organization in 2022 and 2023

OUR IMPACT

GaneshSpace is a grassroots community (501c3 non-profit) organization that provides healing spaces for marginalized communities and social justice education for the public. 

Many of us feel disempowered and angry at the way the world is treating us and/or have lost a feeling of belonging and community. At the same time, those with marginalized identities are trying to navigate oppressive systems that often make it difficult to simply exist. Even when we want to take steps to make change, we often don't have the right tools to do so.

That's where GaneshSpace comes in.

GaneshSpace has only been in operation since 2019, but is already making an impact nationwide. We are proud to embody the values we share with the world: 70% of our community identify as BIPOC, and ~50% identify as queer. 

Last year, we reached 2,000 unduplicated individuals through our mindfulness and social justice programming. As part of our commitment to accessibility, we awarded 10 scholarships for our programming and activities from 2021-2022. We also expanded our paid team from 0 to 4 team members and our board from 4 to 8 members.

HOW YOUR DONATIONS ARE USED

GaneshSpace is almost 100% volunteer-run and has been financially supported by our founder Kim Thai since our founding. As the need for our programs has grown, so too have our operational and programmatic costs. Your support directly funds our work to shift the oppressive systems that directly impact our organizations and and many others like GaneshSpace.

Your donations will help us continue to center the needs of the most marginalized in our country, by supporting the following:

Compassionate Conversations: A radical, quarterly, seasonal event featuring trailblazing thought leaders in wellness and social justice movements, this program supports collective healing and personal transformation while also educating participants about how to create a more just and equitable world for all, including and especially the most marginalized among us. These conversations help cultivate awareness and uplift our lived experiences around race, gender, the body, and sexuality. In 2022, our Compassionate Conversations centered on Black Joy and Trans Joy. Your contribution will help ensure we can continue to offer these empowering conversations. Programmatic Cost: $10,000

Mindful Changemakers: One of our flagship programs, Mindful Changemakers is an 8-week mindfulness-based social justice training. It offers the space, community, support and tools for personal healing and a deeper understanding of how we need to work together to achieve collective healing. This program takes the necessary intersectional approach, looking at our human experience through the identities that define us, including race, gender, sexuality, and the body. Your contribution will help fund scholarships to this program for BIPOC, queer, and trans participants. Programmatic Cost: $5,000

Administrative/Operating Expenses: Our average operating expenses hover around $2,500/month, which includes basic administration costs (e.g. Zoom and Google Workspaces) and staffing costs (e.g. administrative support, accounting, and marketing). Your donations will help ensure we can cover these expenses, as well as grow our operating budget to pay our Founding Teachers who currently volunteer their time. Operating Cost: $10,000
