Hays County Immigrant Families Fund

Mano Amiga operates a Grassroots Stimulus Fund: cash assistance to local families in Hays County who are excluded from Federal Stimulus due to our government's awful policy of birthplace discrimination, denying aid to those in need amid a crisis. 

Immigrants enrich our community, making it more vibrant and unique. Many wonderful families in Hays County, whose children were born in the U.S. with parents born elsewhere on our planet, are denied federal-stimulus aid in these turbulent times. Many residents in Hays County work hard in important industries that we all rely on, contributing to our economy and dutifully paying their taxes –– yet during this economic and public-health catastrophe, they are locked out of these vital funds, due to where they were born. 

We need to remember these vital members of our community and lift them up. For this reason we are helping families with a one-time $250 cash assistance. The funds go directly to these families, who make a formal request of Mano Amiga through a brief interview process. We have already received over 50 applications for Grassroots Stimulus funding and wish to continue to help all the families that are reaching out to us, but we need more financial support to do so.
