Why Unity Farm Sanctuary?

I am choosing to raise money for Unity because it is the place where I feel the closest to the person I strive to be. Unity is a place that leads with love, builds relationships with compassion, and inspires passion. It’s a place where traditional species boundaries can become blurred. When I first started volunteering, I very quickly found myself in a position of having the highlight of my week be seeing my best friend, Pilgrim. I have loved and lost a few friends since then but the brief time I had with Pilgrim taught me how precious every second of a resident’s time truly is at Unity. Every animal there and to one day be there, has their own story that has led them to where they are now and they deserve a safe, warm place to call home for the rest of their individual lives. To do this I am doing a bike ride I’m calling Wheels for Warmth. I’m raising money to help offset the cost of the hay needed to keep everybody warm in the cooler months by biking the metaphorical path Pilgrim took to get home to Unity, from where she was found to the sanctuary, on October 1st.My course is not exactly set so I’m asking that people please either donate a set amount or (to make it interesting) commit to donating a certain amount per mile (it will be a minimum of 50). Thank you for helping me honor Pilgrim’s Path this October.

Provide full bellies and warmth for 62 rescued animals this winter!

As winter is knocking on our doors and the brisk winds draw near, Unity Farm Sanctuary needs to be prepared to keep 62 animal’s bellies full and warm.

And there’s no time to waste as hay becomes harder and harder to find! Excessive rain has hit our local hay production hard, driving prices through the roof. To keep our animals well-fed and snug, we’ve had to import hay all the way from Canada, which significantly increases our prices.

Our 62 furry friends, each with a unique story and place in our hearts, are all counting on us to provide the food they need to survive.

A donation of $45 will cover an entire month's average amount of hay to feed one animal.

This life-saving gift will provide the warmth and nutrition these animals need to survive the cold winters ahead.
