Have A Nice Spay - Band Aid Fund & Future Support

We are grateful for the generous support from JR Peterson Foundation, Neighborhood Cats, and individual donors like Sara Patton and Gary Thompson - their support has allowed us to fund the necessary expenses for all of our 2025 Have A Nice Spay sterilization clinics. 

But there are more expenses that can happen, and do. 

Have A Nice Spay is a pop-up clinic, so at the end of the day, we break everything down and store it away until next clinic. The HQHVSN veterinarians fly home to neighboring islands and states. Because of this, we do not have the resources to see a kitty that might be experiencing complications after surgery. 

After our June 21st clinic, a kitty developed a hematoma, which caused profuse bleeding from the incision area. The kitty was in obvious pain, crying, and required an emergency visit to the local veterinarian. This was not the fault of our veterinary staff at Have A Nice Spay, simply an issue that can happen after a routine surgery. But - the bill was $750.00 - an amount that is next to impossible for most, and especially those we're trying to assist with our clinics. 

These cases are rare, however, can be emotionally detrimental. Imagine signing up for a no-cost clinic and the next day having to make the decision between an unexpected vet bill or watching their beloved pet suffer.

We decided that a Band-Aid Fund would allow us to provide some financial and emotional support for those who have kitties experiencing complications that may arise after our spay and neuter clinics. 

Money raised here will go to these rare cases and unexpected aftercare expenses for those individuals who had their cat sterilized at Have A Nice Spay in 2025. 

If we have any carryover from this fund, it will be distributed in 2026 follows: Band-Aid Fund will start over at $2000 and any additional funding will go to general Have A Nice Spay expenses.
