Goal
Aloha friends and ʻohana,
I’m honored to have been invited into the very first Harvesting Aloha cohort with Aloha Harvest, Hawaiʻi’s largest food rescue and redistribution organization. Since 1999, Aloha Harvest has rescued over 39 million pounds of food that would have gone to waste and delivered it, free of charge, to families who need it most. In 2024 alone, they worked with nearly 470 food donors and 146 recipient agencies to share more than 3 million pounds of good food across Oʻahu.
While most of my fellow cohort members are based on Oʻahu, I represent the island of Kauaʻi, where nearly 10,000 of our 73,000 neighbors are food insecure. Aloha Harvest does not yet operate on Kauaʻi, but I believe the seeds we plant today can grow into lasting impact for our island too. My fundraising efforts are not only about supporting Aloha Harvest’s amazing work on Oʻahu, but also about building awareness for expanding this lifeline across the pae ʻāina.
This mission is deeply personal to me. I study Sustainable Agriculture & Food Systems and Cultural Anthropology, focusing on indigenous approaches to food security.
Your gift today will be given fully to Aloha Harvest, which helps keep good food out of the landfill, onto local tables, and into the hearts of our communities. Together, we can build a more food-secure Hawaiʻi.
💙 Mahalo for your support,
Victoria
