Harriet Tubman Movement
Thank you so much for partnering up with us!!
Our promises to our donors:
We will follow all rules of a 501c3 as set forth by the Ohio Attorney General.
We have careful oversight by our Board of Directors.
We use integrity and care for all spending. We honor the fact that every penny we spend comes from someone who sacrificed something in order to give.
We use resources in relationship-building and helping people along the road to freedom.
Harriet Tubman Movement began after years of working with homeless and inner city youth. We helped our first trafficking survivor in 2015 and have spent the last years connecting with local law enforcement, hospitals, and other local agencies. Many times they are the ones to identify a survivor and then refer to us to respond.
During our time of providing direct services to local survivors of sex trafficking and exploitation, we have found the cost to be approximately a $1000 from the time of initial contact to getting them placed into long term care. The average survivor is in our care for about 8 weeks. During this time we are providing them shelter, clothing, meals, toiletries, medical (normally dental is needed), and many times covering any court costs. Most survivors have also needed birth certificates, I.D., and social security cards.
We are actively working on opening a short-term emergency home for those that are looking to leave the life of exploitation. This home will be a temporary place to be cared for while working with our advocates to create a long term plan for restoration and healing. We are currently looking at properties to bring our vision into reality. This of course will increase our expenses. We are praying that people like you will come along and partner with us. This emergency home will be the only one in our area that will focus on unique needs of survivors and help prepare them for long term restoration.
We thank you so much for your willingness to partner with us. Our survivors thank you as well!!
We CAN NOT serve without YOU! We thank you for your encouragement and prayers as well.
