Goal
Looking for an opportunity to support a worthy cause founded and led by a courageous black, female immigrant? Consider supporting the Macheke Sustainability Project’s Covid-19 response in Macheke, Zimbabwe. Flattening the curve is not an option in places like Macheke because their clinics are not yet equipped to handle pandemics; there are ZERO ventilators available. Stopping the spread of the virus through preventative measures is their only option for preventing a major health crisis. With this heightened state of vulnerability, we are on a mission to bring these measures to the community of Macheke. Currently, there are ZERO positive Covid-19 cases in Macheke; please help us to keep it that way.
Last month, we donated hundreds of masks to the Macheke Rural Clinic which were distributed to essential workers and those most at risk. Now, the Macheke Sustainability Project is fundraising to provide portable hand washing stations that are operated by a foot lever. Our team on the ground has identified essential service locations that are in need of these units and we are utilizing guidance from the hand-washing station model that was created by Cosa Buena, in rural Mexico. Your contribution will cover the cost of needed materials, as well as labor and installation.
Thank you for standing with us over the years. We have come a long way and the progress is inspiring. In fact, because of your support, we were able to fit the Macheke Primary School with a borehole that will be powered by a solar pump. When this school opens following the pandemic lock-down, over 1,800 students will now have access to clean water - truly a life saving measure during these unprecedented times. If you are interested in learning more about how you can lend support, kindly get in touch.
