Goal

Like the Antoinette Portis books, “It’s Not a Stick” and “It’s Not a Box,” Hamilton Park is not simply a park for our children. It is our backyard, a spaceship, a monster hideaway, it is a skating rink and a magical, enchanted garden, filled with fairies and dragons.

We believe children deserve to have the opportunity to immerse themselves in nature, be it a city park like Hamilton Park, or a nature reserve.

Recently, our “backyard” has started to deteriorate, and we have worked with The Hamilton Park Conservancy to identify multiple areas of repair.

The lawn is one example that is in desperate need of restoration, with many areas being made up of mostly dirt, and not the grassy lawns we remember. There are underused areas which could be transformed to gorgeous “yes spaces”- areas where the children can be invited to be part of planning and planting, giving them the tools to not just be stewards of their community, but our earth.

We invite you to join us in building the future of our park. Between now and June 1, our hope is to raise enough funds to get started with the restoration of Hamilton Park. A much needed and much overdue project which will give our children and our whole community the grassy lawns in Hamilton Park back again.
