Please join us in welcoming Guy Newland, to the Chenrezig Tibetan Buddhist Center. Guy Newland will be teaching on July 24, 2026 from 6:00 pm until 7:30 pm on Hope in the Dharma.


Guy Newland is a long-time student of Jeffery Hopkins at the University of Virginia. He is recently retired after thirty-seven years as Professor of Religion at Central Michigan University. His work has focused on the Buddhist concept of emptiness as understood in the Dalai Lama’s tradition of Tibetan Buddhism. He is an editor and translator of the three-volume Great Treatise on the Stages of the Path to Enlightenment, and an editor and translator of the Dalai Lama’s teachings on that text From Here to Enlightenment. He is also the author of several books on Buddhism including Introduction to Emptiness, The Two Truths, Appearance and Reality, and A Buddhist Grief Observed.
