Goal
Earlier this year, our staff member Riclaude poured countless hours into rebuilding our garden—something that has become an all-too-familiar task after storms, harsh weather, and challenging growing conditions. He carefully planted seeds, protected the young plants from the intense Haitian sun, faithfully watered them each day, and tended to every detail.
Today, we are so excited to see his hard work paying off. Our garden is producing an abundance of tomatoes, beets, squash, and lettuce that are helping feed the children in our care. By using high-quality seeds, natural fertilizers like crushed eggshells, and sustainable growing practices, we believe we are taking meaningful steps toward greater self-sufficiency.
One challenge remains beyond our control: pests. Bugs continue to damage much of our produce before it can be harvested. Building a greenhouse would provide a protected growing environment, shielding crops from pests and harsh weather while allowing us to grow more food consistently throughout the year. It would be a significant step toward providing fresh, nutritious food for the children and strengthening the long-term sustainability of our ministry.
