Green Bamboo Warm Shelter
Vietnam's Children Shelter Fund (VCSF) is a 501(c)3 that provides educational and household materials to child welfare organizations.
Vietnam’s Children Shelter Fund (VCSF) was founded in May of 2018 by three students at Loyola University Chicago. The undergraduates spent their spring semester studying in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, where they also interned at a local children’s shelter, the Green Bamboo Warm Shelter. This shelter houses boys under 18 who may be homeless, orphaned, or unable to live safely in their original homes due to abuse or poverty. The shelter provides not only a safe, brotherly environment for the boys, but it also pays school fees for the boys to attend traditional school or trade school. The Green Bamboo Warm Shelter has been instrumental in their local community by giving their residents educational opportunities and protecting their residents from gangs, the fate of many estranged boys in Vietnam. VCSF wishes to provide the Green Bamboo Warm Shelter with educational and household materials so they can sustain their community and mission.
VCSF is currently working on a number of projects with the Green Bamboo Warm Shelter. Firstly, the shelter is opening a small cafe where proceeds help pay the shelter’s monthly bills such as school fees and rent. The shelter has asked for help obtaining updated kitchen and cooking equipment for their new cafe. Secondly, the shelter has asked for assistance in providing monthly groceries for the boys’ meals. We are formulating a plan to provide the shelter with grocery vouchers that can only be used at grocery stores to pay for food or hygienic products. Thirdly, the shelter has recently built a new library room and has asked for books to fill their new shelves. Lastly, the shelter has asked for aid to supplement school tuition and fees. These upcoming projects are overseen by VCSF board members in Ho Chi Minh City and Chicago.
Please consider giving to this cause! You can give in monthly installments (this goes a very long way for the boys at Green Bamboo) or a one-time donation.
