Goal

Starfish Asia was our favourite charity when we were still living in Pakistan, long before our son Rob became its CEO.  Its simple but all-embracing purpose is to give support to a number of schools which have been started by kind-hearted individuals to offer basic education to the poorest of the poor.  Its main object is to raise money in the West to help Starfish Pakistan provide basic amenities such as toilets and drinking water, desks, fans, chalkboards, books, and salaries and training for the teachers.

Last year, Dan and I joined The Starfish Trail, offering to walk 20 kms (though not in one go!) of the distance from Karachi to Lahore, in aid of Starfish.  It was our Diamond Wedding year, and our generous sponsors helped us raise about £1,000 towards the final grand result of more than £15,000.  Now, before we leave our eighties, we plan to repeat our efforts this September, and hope you might feel able to contribute something to the cause! (No gift too small – or too large!)

We shall be walking the last leg of “St Alkelda’s Way Pilgrimage” with our church family this month too – and those kms will add to our total.  (Read about the pilgrimage at www.stalkeldasway.info
