600km Cycle across the length of Ireland!

I have followed with interest the work of Starfish Asia in recent years and am impressed with their commitment to the children of Asia in a Christian context.  I believe it is very important that we should not just be mindful of the poor, especially Christians, in other countries, but we should be willing to give practical help as we are able.  I am very aware that materially I am part of the very privileged West and we are often more concerned with our own challenges, whenever Christian Communities in countries like that in Pakistan live in the most limited of conditions and with few opportunities.

Hence I see the Great Starfish Trial as the opportunity to bring together two of my great enthusiasms in life, the enjoyment of the great outdoors on two wheels, where you can appreciate through all the senses of sight, hearing and scents and feeling the breeze (and the road beneath!), more of God’s wonderful creation, with bringing assistance to the children through improved schools with enhanced teaching.

My plan is staring from Ireland’s most southern point, Mizen Head on Monday the 11^th of September, cycle over the course of 6 days a total of 600 km through the  entire length of Ireland with idyllic cycling on quiet, mostly fairly level rural roads arriving at Malin Head, Ireland’s most northern point on Saturday the 16^th of September.
