Between 9th and 24th September I will be running a total of 30km in aid of Starfish Asia. 

This is just a small part of much wider event called 'The Great Starfish Trail', where a team of supporters are working together to cover a total distance of 750km!

To help focus my training, I have signed up to the  Richmond Park 10km on Sunday 17th September in order to complete some of the distance. 

Why? 

In this country we take it for granted that our children receive a high quality education, all the way up the age of 16 and beyond. In September my eldest daughter will be starting secondary school. Not only did we have the choice of a number of excellent schools, we also know that she will enjoy the privilege of another 7 years of compulsory education to gain skills, develop as a person and prepare for her future.

Sadly for children in Pakistan the situation is worlds apart. 45% of primary school aged children do not attend school. For those that do, many go on to drop out as the need to work and bring an income for the family outweighs the need (or desire) to get an education. Starfish Asia is doing all we can to support this dire situation and help break this endless cycle of poverty for so many Christian children.

£50 provides a teacher's salary for a month

£100 pays for a month's rent for an average school

My personal target is £900, which equates to £30 per kilometre.
