Goal

Hi, I’m Grace Balsdon, a current England and Great Britain international hockey player and a mentor with The True Athlete Project (TAP). Through my own sporting journey, I’ve experienced the highs, challenges and lessons that come with pursuing elite sport. I believe strongly in the power of mentorship and the positive impact it can have in helping young athletes build confidence, resilience and develop an identity that extends beyond their sport.

Hi, I’m Isabella Millar, a Current U16 Professional Game Academy Player where I have been part of the pathway for 8 years. Being part of TAP has helped me rebuild my confidence after an injury setback, supporting me through my return to the pitch and playing competitive matches. This season, I was proud to be part of the team that won the JPL PGA U16 Trophy, and I was also recognised as Young Match Official of the Year by The Three Rivers and Watford School Sports Partnership, through my commitment to developing the junior referee pathway, particularly for young girls. TAP has given me the opportunity to reflect on my journey, develop both as a person and athlete, and learn from an amazing mentor (Grace Balsdon) who understands the demands of high-performance sport.

We are coming together to raise funds for the next generation of athletes through the True Athlete Project (TAP) Mentoring Programme.

Our fundraising coaching day celebrates women’s sport coming together — creating a space for young athletes to learn from, support and inspire each other. Girls will have the opportunity to take part in hockey, football, or both, while learning from athletes who understand the demands, challenges and rewards of pursuing sport at a high level.

This unique experience will give young athletes the chance to ask questions, hear real stories from the sporting journey, and gain insight into the mindset, dedication and resilience needed to progress in sport.

By supporting this event, you will help fund a place for a future TAP mentee — giving another young athlete access to mentoring that builds confidence, resilience, leadership and an identity beyond sport.

Who are TAP?

The True Athlete Project is a charity dedicated to building a more compassionate world through sport. Working across all sports and all levels, TAP delivers mentoring and workshops that support athletes to become happier, healthier and more well-rounded - both on and off the field.

Their programmes help athletes develop self-awareness, resilience and a deeper sense of connection, transforming sport into a space for personal growth and positive change.

Why Donate?

TAP is a small charity with a huge impact. Your support helps them continue transforming the culture within sport and expand access to their programmes - reaching athletes who might not otherwise have the opportunity to benefit from this kind of holistic support.

If you believe in sport as a force for good - for wellbeing, for community, for change - please consider donating. Every contribution helps TAP continue their incredible work.

Thank you for supporting us and helping build a more compassionate world through sport 💙
