A Second Chance Changed Jamie’s Life!
Your gift can help change the life of another Kentuckian.
For most of her life, Jamie believed her past had already written her future.
Jamie struggled with addiction from the age of 13 to 38. She experienced incarceration, survived human trafficking and faced years of trauma and setbacks that made moving forward seem impossible.
Then, in 2024, everything changed.
An overdose left Jamie in a coma for 14 days. When she survived, she knew she had been given something she never expected: a second chance.
This time, Jamie was determined to make it count.
As Jamie began the difficult work of recovery and rebuilding her life, she learned about Goodwill Kentucky. What she found was more than a place to work. She found people willing to see her potential instead of her past and an opportunity to begin building the life she once thought was beyond her reach.
One year later, Jamie walked through the doors of Goodwill Kentucky’s Mapleleaf location as an employee. Her journey represents what a second chance can become when someone has the support, resources and opportunity to move forward.
“Goodwill has changed my life like you wouldn’t believe,” Jamie said. “I have a family here.”
Every day, Kentuckians like Jamie come to Goodwill Kentucky facing barriers that can make stability and self-sufficiency feel out of reach. Through employment, career training and personalized support, we work alongside Kentuckians as they build pathways out of poverty and toward futures filled with possibility.
Your Gift Helps Make Ending Poverty in Kentucky a Reality.
Communities are stronger when people have access to meaningful work, opportunities to develop new skills and the support needed to achieve long-term stability.
Jamie received her second chance. Help us make sure the next Kentuckian gets theirs.
Choose the Opportunity Center You Want to Champion
Goodwill Giving Day also includes a friendly challenge among Goodwill Kentucky’s Opportunity Centers. When making your gift, you will be asked to select one Opportunity Center from the required designation menu. Your selection determines which center receives credit for your participation in the Giving Day Challenge.
The Opportunity Center that engages the greatest number of unique donors will win!
This challenge is based on the number of donors, not the amount of money raised. Every donor matters, and gifts of every size can help move an Opportunity Center closer to victory. Don’t have a favorite center? Choose the Opportunity Center closest to you or the Kentucky community you would most like to champion.
The challenge concludes at 11:59 p.m. ET on Thursday, November 12th, and the winning Opportunity Center will be announced on Friday, November 13th.
