Goal
Every Child A Reader in Escambia (ECARE) is participating in the #GivingTuesdayNow movement on May 5, 2020, to focus on three key initiatives to further support our mission of maximizing children's potential through increased school readiness:
Supporting Our Educators - Did you know it is Teacher Appreciation Week? In the environment we are currently in, our celebration of teachers looks different. However, at ECARE we are making sure that all of our educators (and administrators) feel the love this week and throughout the rest of the school year. You can join us by "Adopting a Teacher" today!
Closing the Achievement Gap - We have identified a need for summer programming to support closing the achievement gaps for our children entering kindergarten in the fall, which have likely been intensified by the current COVID-19 crisis. We supply a book per month with activities and at-home prompts, to get the entire family involved. These will be simple yet important lessons building skills necessary for entering kindergarten. Join us by sponsoring a child to make this happen or volunteer to be on the summer program team.
Preparing for Next School Year - To prepare our program and volunteer team to reopen safely and ready for success, we are already planning for the 2020-21 school year to assure we are ready with in-person and innovative ways to engage our students and families. Our goal for 2020-21 and future years is to ensure every student has a ReadingPal by the time we start mentoring sessions in September! We are starting early and we invite you to join us on the journey! You can fund a student through our program and you also have the opportunity to commit as a ReadingPal volunteer to be matched with a student throughout the school year.
