Giving Tuesday 2021
In 2020, we launched the Americana Music Association Foundation (AMAF), our non-profit 501(c)(3) with a mission to preserve and educate people on the beloved art form we know today as Americana music. It was through donations from the community that buoyed our association and foundation to survive the pandemic. We are forever grateful for your contributions.
What we've done
Upon our foundation's launch in 2020, we sprang into action helping to raise COVID-19 funds with our friends at The Bluegrass Situation. As spring turned to fall, we were first to market with our virtual music industry conference known as Thriving Roots in September 2020, featuring panels led by Rosanne Cash with Ry Cooder, Bonnie Raitt, Alice Randall and Angela Davis; Emmylou Harris with Ken Burns and Dayton Duncan; and The Avett Brothers with Judd Apatow, just to name a few. These were artists speaking to the community, for the community ... what we live for.
Earlier this year, we cemented our partnership with NYU Steinhardt by launching a special edition of WORDS & MUSIC, which featured guests Lori McKenna and Jonathan Taplin in virtual interviews with curator, host and Steinhardt Director of Songwriting Phil Galdston. In October, we were proud to announce Rosanne Cash as the first Americana Artist-In-Residence at NYU Steinhardt where she will be working closely with students in a series of lectures, workshops and classroom visits throughout the 2021-22 academic year.
How you can help
Currently, we are in active conversations with major museums and educational institutions around the country to create even more premier programming that’s in line with our mission.
None of this would've been possible without our community's support. That said, today we're asking for your help to continue our foundation's ongoing initiatives into 2022 and beyond.
If you’re unable to make a larger one-time donation, we'll gladly take whatever you're able to contribute monthly by as low as $10. By receiving regular donations, we're able to plan ahead and make better financial decisions for our mission.
