It was a beautiful fall afternoon at High Horses and a few of our independent riders were preparing to take their horses out on the trail for a quick ride. The instructor opened the gate revealing the lush green grass and freedom a typical horse would be excited by. Therapy horse Jack stopped just inside the gate of the arena. He refused to move and was a statue. Within seconds his rider had a seizure while on his back. Jack felt in her body that something was wrong and he took it into his own hands to take care of her in the best way he possibly could by stopping and trying to keep her safe. The instructor was then able to help her dismount efficiently and without incident.
This story is just one of the many that we see and experience every day here at High Horses. These horses know their jobs and excel at them.
2021 has been a banner year at High Horses. This summer we had our busiest session of all time (serving 108 riders) and despite the colder weather we don't seem to be slowing down!!
We are overjoyed to be able to serve our community and empower them to grow and experience the healing power of our horses. Our horses are an integral part of our team and deserve the best love and care we can possibly provide to them.
For #GivingTuesday2021 our goal is to raise $20,000 to cover their needs including vet bills, hay, grain, and the many other unexpected expenses that often come up in the barn.
Make a donation today and be a part of supporting our equine partners and the important work they do.
