The Global Food Initiative (GFI) is the Church of the Brethren's primary way of responding to hunger and helping communities achieve lasting food security. Since 1983, faithful supporters like you have helped raise more than $8 million for life-changing projects in countries around the world.

Every gift makes a difference. Through GFI, families gain access to clean water, sustainable agriculture training, and tools to grow their own food. Projects include small animal microbusinesses, grain mills, aquaculture (fish farming), and emergency food security funds. In the U.S., GFI supports community gardens, nutrition education, food pantries, and church-based programs that bring neighbors together around healthy meals.
Globally, income-generating projects—such as raising chickens, pigs, or bees—empower families to feed themselves and earn income for essentials like medicine and school fees. These efforts also strengthen our global church partners, enabling them to meet food needs and sustain vital ministries.
Reconciled to God through Jesus and empowered by the Holy Spirit, we are called to continue the work of Jesus in our world: feeding the hungry, empowering those in poverty, making sure everyone has safe water to drink (see Luke 4:16-21; Matthew 25: 31-46).
