Take The Chair’s Challenge !

New Chair to match gifts to Foundation until 30 June, 2022

Professor Tony Haymet, new Chair of The Antarctic Science Foundation, is emphatic: this is the most exciting time in the last 30 years to be involved in Antarctic science.

The Antarctic research community has recently been buoyed by:

• the arrival of RSV Nuyina, Australia’s new icebreaker;

• continued bipartisan support for Australian science in Antarctica and the Southern Ocean;

• renewed commitment to conduct field research in East Antarctica;

• the commencement of the Million Year Ice Core project; and

• the announcement of new research positions and additional resources for the Australian Antarctic Program.

The Antarctic Science Foundation is poised to build on this momentum. As a supporter, you are unique in your interest and commitment: you back the tenacious people and ambitious projects, providing the answers we need to flourish for generations to come.

Tony has made a personal commitment to match all gifts made to the Foundation before 30 June, 2022 *

When you Take The Chair’s Challenge, you will provide career pathways for researchers at all levels so they can ask the vital questions of Antarctica for our future together:

✅ develop reliable climate predictions for all Australians living in our cities and those who live on the land

✅ advance fire, flood and drought prediction and mitigation strategies

✅ manage economic and sustainable fisheries

✅ understand effective carbon capture via nature’s systems

✅ increase the health of our oceans

✅ improve global biodiversity

✅ protect Antarctica’s unique wildlife 🐋 🦭 🐧

Take The Chair’s Challenge and double your impact today. Together we will push forward, increasing our knowledge of the Icy Continent while accelerating research outcomes for the benefit of all.

There is an exciting year ahead. We look forward to the questions we will ask and the answers we will find together.

*Matching includes all private gifts to the Foundation to a total maximum of $50,000 to 30 June, 2022.
