Goal

Student selecting books at a Family Reading Celebration

We are working together to ensure every Oakland child learns and loves to read.

We are so grateful for our partners working to make a difference in so many ways – from meeting students’ basic needs knowing it’s hard to learn if hungry, unsheltered, sick, or stressed, to providing engaging and effective learning experiences in and out of school. These individual efforts are even more powerful when they connect, inform, and build on one another. That's why we serve as a hub to build and strengthen a citywide literacy movement in Oakland through opportunities to learn, collaborate, and champion literacy together. Thank you for your support to make this work possible.

Give today and it will go twice as far!

OLC Board Member Jeremy Largman has stepped up with an offer to match up to $5K in donations through the end of 2018. Jeremy is excited about the OLC's collaborative approach to building a future where every Oakland kid has the support needed to attain essential literacy skills and discover the joy of reading.

Because all kids deserve to discover the power of literacy to delight, spark curiosity, see themselves, make sense of the world around them, and create change for a better future.
