Help the Light and Leadership Initiative achieve 2 goals: 

1. Provide GIFTS and a celebration for our community this holiday season. 

2. Add BOOKS  to our literacy libraries.

Who we are: The Light and Leadership Initiative is a non-profit located in Huaycan, Peru. For ten years now, we’ve been offering educational workshops and classes for children, teens, and adults. In that time, these programs have been educating, empowering, and inspiring changes within the community.  

Our goals: Our participants’ involvement in our programs has been beyond integral to our success. In past years, we have succeeded in maintaining trust and enrollment by hosting a holiday celebration and by continually improving the quality of our programs overall.  

We’ve seen over the years that families look forward to the special holiday event and we’ve certainly heard comments from parents and kids alike that this may be the only gift they are able to provide/receive this holiday season. After our celebration last year, we asked parents what they would like from this year’s fundraiser. Overwhelmingly, they asked us to request funds for program improvements in addition to the gifts. In accordance with their feedback, we are happy to be putting the funds gained in this campaign not only to the celebration but also to purchasing books for our literacy programs! 

Why your donation matters: In order to achieve this goal, we are asking donors to help us raise $2000, which will provide gifts ($15 for two participants) to each of our most committed participants and books ($10 for two books) towards our literacy libraries. 

Note: We've just acheived our goal, but don't let that stop you from giving! Any additional funds raised will go towards funding our programs for 2020! 

Just like you show your appreciation for the loved ones in your life with presents during the holidays, we are looking to do the same with our community. If you are able to do so, please consider making a contribution by FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 29th, as this year’s party will be on Sunday, December 1st!
