Give the Gift of Opportunity
This Christmas, I am helping to break the barriers aspiring barristers still face by supporting Briding the Bar's Give the Gift of Opportunity campaign. Your gift helps provide real chances for talented individuals to access opportunities, mentoring, experiences, and support that would otherwise be out of reach.Your gift, whether big or small, helps provide real chances for talented individuals to access opportunities, mentoring, experiences, and support that would otherwise be out of reach.
The festive season is full of gifts; moments of joy, connection, warmth and celebration. But for many aspiring barristers from underrepresented and disadvantaged backgrounds, this time of year can also be a sharp reminder of everything they’re fighting for and everything that still feels painfully out of reach. Behind every application, every interview, every late-night revision session, and every quiet moment of hope, there’s a young person with extraordinary talent who simply needs one thing: an opportunity.
An opportunity to be seen.
To be supported.
To be included.
To belong in a profession that still feels closed to so many.
And that’s where you come in.
This Christmas,
you can give a gift that doesn’t sit under a tree, a gift that lifts someone up, a gift that says “You deserve to be here. Your future matters.” Your donation helps open doors that have been closed for too long. It funds the mentoring, exposure, training, guidance and practical support that no aspiring barrister should have to go without, but many do. It reduces the financial pressure that pushes talented people away before they ever get a chance to shine. It reminds someone that their dream is not only possible: it is valued.
Your generosity becomes courage.
Your support becomes hope.
Your gift becomes opportunity.
And the impact lasts far beyond Christmas.
This December, join us in giving a gift unlike any other.
A gift that doesn’t fade, get lost, or forgotten.
A gift that can change the shape of someone’s career, their confidence, and their future.
Give the Gift of Opportunity.
And help create a Bar that truly reflects the world it serves.
It’s more than a donation: it’s a future opened, a door unlocked, and a dream made possible.
My Gift: 12 Days of Christmas
This Christmas, I am supporting other aspiring barrister by

From 1–12 December, I will be a gifting a different skill each day — short, simple, and genuinely helpful to those coming up behind you — while raising funds through my own personalised fundraising page.
What your donation supports
Your generosity underpins the programmes and research that allow us to pursue our mission with confidence and ambition. By donating, you help us deliver hands-on support to aspiring barristers, build evidence that informs change, and develop initiatives that improve accessibility across the profession.
The Academy
Each academic year, our flagship programme supports 100 aspiring barristers from traditionally underrepresented backgrounds. The Academy provides candidates with access to mini pupillages, internships, mentoring, and skills development sessions. Through this, we are reducing the barriers faced by non-traditional candidates, equipping them with the tools, confidence, and experience needed to obtain pupillage and pursue a career at the Bar.
Our Research
Currently we are researching accessibility in Chambers across the country. This involves surveying both physical accessibility. such as step-free access and suitable facilities, and non-physical inclusion. such as policies and practices which influence how individuals experience the Chambers environment. The findings from this work will allow us to compile a comprehensive, public, and searchable database which highlights the supportive measures and practical approaches taken by Chambers.
Through our research, our aim is to provide clear information about how different Sets support their members, employees, and applicants, helping aspiring barristers and practitioners alike to identify which Chambers are supportive to their individual needs.
Future Development
Individual donations provide us with the funding needed to allow us to explore, design, and launch new initiatives that address broader barriers within the profession. This includes piloting new projects, expanding our outreach, and strengthening our programmes for traditionally underrepresented aspiring barristers. Currently we are focussing on establishing new programmes which aim to introduce pre-undergraduate and pre-Bar Course students to the legal profession and the Bar.
Together, let’s make opportunity the perfect Christmas gift
Whether you donate, fundraise, or spread the word, you’re helping aspiring barristers unlock their potential and step confidently toward the career they deserve.
This Christmas, give the gift that lasts far beyond the festive season: Give the Gift of Opportunity.
