Just a few years ago Geoff’s life was in shambles. He was going through a bad patch and was drinking a lot. He was in a relationship that did not work out and his partner left him in a lot of debt. Then one day, Geoff came to our drop-in café in Paisley. This is where he met Adam, one of our support workers who befriended him. Every week Adam listened to Geoff without judgment, answered his questions, and, through our faith-based programme, supported him throughout his recovery journey. “Street Connect helped me on a long journey - said Geoff. If it wasn’t for Adam and Street Connect I’d still be living in disappointment.” Geoff is grateful for Adam's help and here at Street Connect, we are grateful for your help.
Because we can not keep our drop-in cafes open to welcome people like Geoff without your generous support. You see, we get some funding from the government and other grant-making trusts but that funding does not stretch far enough to enable us to do all we need to do to help people struggling with addictions, facing homeless and social isolation. So, right now we have a funding gap of £9,563 in our quarterly budget and we need caring and compassionate friends like you to give us a helping hand. Will you stand in the gap? I know this is a difficult time for many of us, we are feeling the squeeze on our finances in different ways. That is why a generous gift from you during these difficult times would mean all the more to us. Will you give £18 or whatever you can to enable workers like Adam to help more people like Geoff to take their next steps in their journey of recovery?
Thanks to the past generosity of supporters like you, Geoff is living in a Street Connect flat. Recently, he received his (Level 7) Community Achievement Award through Glasgow Kelvin College. Also, he is volunteering at The Wild Olive Tree and at Glesga Roasters.
All he wants to do now is to keep moving forward in life and gain paid employment.
By giving to Street Connect today you cam ensure that other men like Geoff who are struggling with addictions can receive the faith-based support they need to get their lives back on track.
What your generosity can make possible:
£18 can enable us to offer a warm welcome, a hot drink, and a plate of food to someone who comes to our drop-in cafes looking for help on how to get their life back on track.
£36 or £55 can ensure that someone who is struggling with addiction can receive one-to-one support on a regular basis, and practical help in accessing a rehabilitation programme.
£110 or more can make it possible for a group of men in recovery to spend a day learning new life skills like budgeting their monthly allowances, painting, decorating, etc.
For Geoff and other people in addiction, all that is standing between them and a better life with gainful employment is a lack of adequate funds to enable our workers to continue to support them.
But you can change this!
Please give the most generous gift you can to Street Connect today to see lives transformed for good by God's love and your compassion and care.
Thank you for your continued partnership in prayer and giving. |
