Goal
REMOTE AREA MEDICAL (RAM) is an organization that brings volunteers from all over the country to provide health care screening, services, and education to people who don’t have regular access to medical care. VBCF attends the RAM clinics in Virginia and hosts a breast cancer education table. At the largest RAM clinic in Virginia, we run the cancer education program tent under the name “Becky’s Place”, in honor of the volunteer who grew the program. Through Becky’s Place in 2017, VBCF volunteers, made up of cancer survivors, nurses, and pharmacy students, taught 24 classes and offered tobacco cessation counseling to hundreds of people.
We couldn’t do our work at RAM Wise, which occurs annually in July, without your help. Please consider donating to our RAM program. Particularly in demand are WalMart gift cards to purchase school supplies for local children (any denomination) or to serve as raffle prizes during our educational classes ($50). The school supplies are a major benefit to the children in Wise, and the raffle prizes ensure larger class sizes so more people can receive the health education we provide.
