In solidarity with our fellow earthlings, four magnificent elephants in Karachi who are chained for 15 hours a day and endure agonising pain in their feet and legs, I’ve decided to do a fundraising walk on Saturday 30th January 2021.
Free The Wild are desperately in need of funds to cover the elephants' urgent veterinary care and I'm hoping my walk will inspire action.
I broke my leg nearly 5 months ago and developed Deep Vein Thrombosis, but I can almost walk properly now. I was lucky enough to receive appropriate medical care and physiotherapy straight after the accident and months afterwards.
The elephants in Karachi have not been so lucky.
6 weeks into recovery - Sept 2020
I am determined to - and believe I can - walk 5 km without stopping. Not very far I know, but I am in pain so I have to take it easy. It may take me a few hours to do it, as I am slow, but I feel if these elephants can suffer in agony every day, I don't see why I shouldn’t suffer a little discomfort, if I can help them.
They stand on three legs because their feet are cracked, swollen and infected.
Please sponsor my walk - no matter how little or how much. Every Penny raised will go towards funding proper veterinary care and treatments for all four African elephants.
Free The Wild aim to have a team of vets on the ground in Karachi this February, bringing with them portable X-ray machines, specialist equipment and medications to see to the elephants' every need.
Time is of the essence.
Please help if you can.
